Bibliography
"The Age of European Imperialism in Indonesia and What Happened When Societies Interacted." Chatwarawannathip. Wordpress, 23 Oct. 2011. Web. 18 May 2015. <https://chatwarawannathip.wordpress.com/2011/10/23/the-age-of-european-imperialism-in-indonesia-and-what-happened-when-societies-interacted/>. This source is reliable and very helpful. It should be considered trustworthy. It provides a bibliography and a glossary. In the bibliography, there are not MLA citations, but rather links to additional sources. It is objective and provides is an accurate look at the past. It does not say anything biased. There is enough information of the site. It has a very thorough history as well as pictures and a further reading section. It is also relatively current. It was published in October of last year. However, most of the information is about history from several hundred years ago, so that is not entirely relevant. It is accurate. The information lines up with what was learned from other articles. Its purpose seems to be to inform the reader of Indonesian history.
"Dutch Colonial Empire." Europe Since 1914: Encyclopedia of the Age of War and Reconstruction. Ed. John Merriman and Jay Winter. Vol. 2. Detroit: Charles Scribner's Sons, 2006. 899-903. World History in Context. Web. 12 May 2015.

It gave a nice summary of the Dutch East India Company.the information learned from it was about the politics involved in the capture and holding of Indonesia, as well as the ethical policy and the DEIC's other holdings. It does not have an author listed, so it cannot be determined how credible he/she is. However, the article was written in an encyclopedia, so it could be considered accurate and credible. Overall, the source was helpful. The information on the ethical policy and its importnace to the Dutch was unique and very useful.
"Dutch Colonization." Indonesian Imperialism. Weebly, n.d. Web. 18 May 2015. <http://imperialismindonesia.weebly.com/dutch-colonization.html>. This source was not that useful. Much of the information here was already learned from other sources. Overall, the source should not be considered trustworthy. It seems apparent that the author did some research, but the site is poorly designed and there is no bibliography or works cited. It is objective and provides an unbiased overview of Dutch Imperialism. There is enough information. The author has written four paragraphs that covers the whole period of imperialism. It is unknown if it is current, but the subject is historical so it doesn't really matter. The information is the same as what was read in other sources, so it should be considered accurate. Its purpose is to inform the reader of Indonesian history.
"Dutch East India Company." World History: The Modern Era. ABC-CLIO, 2015. Web. 12 May 2015. This source was helpful and had a lot of information. It was used as a nice overview and summary of the Dutch East India Company. Although it had plenty of information on the VOC's activities in Indonesia, it also had information of their other places. It was interesting to see the comparisons. The source is most likely accurate, because it has been looked over by the database staff. It also provided a further reading section which was helpful and showed the author did research. Overall, this source was useful and helped with learning about the VOC which is integral to understanding imperialism within Indonesia.
Encyclopedia of Asian History: [Guan - Mima]. 2nd ed. New York: Scribner [u.a.], 1988. Print. This source was from an encyclopedia on Asian countries. It gave a summary of the history of Indonesia, which was helpful. It is well written and helpful. It can definable be considered accurate, as it is from a printed encyclopedia that has gone through multiple revisions. It was helpful in getting a general idea of European interaction when research was just getting started. Towards the end, however, it proved less useful as the information in it was common. However, it does provide detailed accounts of almost everything it covers, such as what crops were planted or where exactly the Portuguese and Dutch trade. Overall, this source was useful.
"A Historical Glimpse." Indonesia History. indo.com, n.d. Web. 18 May 2015. <http://www.indo.com/indonesia/history.html>. This source was not very good. It did not cite its sources or provide any additional or outside resources. However, the facts are accurate when checked against other sources. It might be objective. It cannot be determined whether or not the author or article is biased. The purpose of the site is to promote tourism, so it might be biased. There is not very much information. It is very general because the entire history of Indonesia is covered in a few paragraphs. It is not current, but that is not very relevant. Because the facts are the same as other readings, it is most likely accurate.
Kartini, Raden Adjeng. "Letters of a Javanese Princess." 1921. World Civilizations. Ed. Dennis Sherman. 4th ed. New York: McGraw-Hill, 2006. N. pag. Print. Primary source
Phillips, Douglas A. Indonesia. Philadelphia: Chelsea House, 2005. Print. This source was very helpful. It gave a fantastic overview of Indonesian history. It covered everything from the first European contact to Indonesian independence. This had several pages of accurate information, and was one of the best sources of information found while researching imperialism. It is trustworthy because it was published in a book and it was reviewed and edited. This source had information on all aspects of Dutch imperialism. Overall, this was one of, if not the best sources found for this project.

However, the information is still credible. It was published by a database and determined credible by their staff. The most useful thing the source contained was how exactly the dutch established control over their colony in Indonesia. It also had a little bit of information about the Japanese occupation. That was helpful, as that led to their independence and is important to understand. Overall, this source was helpful and had plenty of usable and unique information.
